The project aims to examine the scale and nature of cooperation between cities belonging to the European Union and those in the People’s Republic of China.
We are trying to find the answer, what is the cooperation model between European and Chinese cities? What are the decisive factors for successful cooperation with the PRC? What is the role of institutionalization (i.e. existing contracts, offices abroad, etc.) in this process? To what extent is national diplomacy coordinated with regional and European policy towards China?
As part of the project, we conducted a survey covering all European cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants and interviewed city officials and employees of EU institutions.
